ATTENTION!
Business Owners

The DeKalb Co. Guide offers FREE line listings of your name and phone number in a unique Alphabetical Section. It's like the white pages in the phone book, but better because there are no residential numbers - only local businesses.

Up-to-date and expanded, our fourth edition will guide you to all the products and services on offer in our county. 10,000 new books will be designed and printed and mailed approximately July 31, 2008.

The last 3 issues came out every 6 months, and now the Guide will come out once a year. The 2008 edition will be a Gas Saver Edition, with a handy chart of cost to travel to surrounding areas and much more! It will combine the best of the previous issues to include the map of Center Hill Lake, hunting and fishing info, and the local school calendar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why is the book so thin?
A. Many people avoid using the phone book because it can seem like a hassle to look things up. It is much quicker and easier with our book! The Guide is also easier to take with you on the road (in case you want to order a pizza on the way home.)

Q. What's with the $50?
A. To encourage people to keep The Guide handy, we will call a resident, picked at random from the phone book. If they can answer a question about The Guide and agree to have their name and photo published in the next edition, they receive $50 cash.

Q. How come I didn't get a book when I live in the county?
A. Yes, we know, there are some areas where postal routes from surrounding counties overlap into ours. In these areas it is too expensive for us to include the entire route and impossible to buy a mailing list that targets only these homes. As luck would have it, where we live is one of those areas, so even we do not receive our own book!
Let us know if you are in one of these areas and we will add you to a special mailing list, and send you your free copy.

Q. Will there be other county guides?
A. Yes, we hope to expand to the surrounding counties in future years.

Q. Who are you and where do you come from?
A. The Guide is produced by Gillard Publishing, a small family-owned business in DeKalb County, TN. We are members of the DeKalb Co. Chamber of Commerce.

FAQs For Businesses

Q. Can I make monthly payments for an ad?
A. No, a single payment must be made in full by the deadline of each issue. We don't want you to have another monthly bill to pay!

Q. Can you list my cell phone number?
A. Yes, we can list cell or VOIP numbers. And you don't need to have a business phone line.

Q. Do you accept advertising from outside the county?
A. Not usually, but... if the company serves DeKalb county, and there's not a significant comparable local industry, then they may advertise in The Guide. But the goal of The Guide is to help residents to find products and services locally, and to give our small businesses a chance to reach our area. Thank you for your understanding!
